SMS Phishing and Fake Links

Phishing scams use fake texts and links to steal your info. Learn how to spot and avoid them.

How it works:

  • You receive an SMS that looks like it’s from the bank (e.g., “Your account is locked”) with a link. Clicking it opens a fake (but familiar-looking) login page that asks for your credentials, or directly requests sensitive financial information such as login details, ID information, or OTPs.

Common signs to watch for:

  • SMS is sent from an unknown number and uses urgent language.
  • Link directs you to an unfamiliar website.

How to protect yourself:

  • Never click on unfamiliar links, always verify first.
  • Never enter your personal or financial details on unknown websites.
  • Canadia Bank staff will never ask for your login info, ID details, or OTPs, do not share them with anyone.
  • Enable Two-Factor Authentication on your social media accounts.
  • Report any suspicious SMS to the bank immediately at 023 868 222.
