Canadia Bank, one of Cambodia’s long-established and leading commercial banks, has continued to strengthen its commitment to making banking more accessible and convenient to the customers by introducing more digital payment solutions. Recently, the Bank launched a new feature on the Canadia Bank App that allows customers to make cross-border payments in Thailand easily using QR code scanning. This new feature provides greater convenience to Canadia Bank App users by enabling quick and easy payments directly from their KHR accounts.
With this new feature, Canadia Bank customers no longer need to go through the hassle of currency exchange from Riel or US Dollar to Thai Baht before traveling to Thailand. They can simply use their Canadia Bank App to make payments at various establishments in Thailand, including restaurants, malls, hospitals, clinics, and other stores that accept Thai QR with the PromptPay logo. To use this feature, customers just open the Canadia Bank App, scan any merchant QR code in Thailand where the "PromptPay'' logo is displayed, enter the amount they have to pay, and confirm the payment.
The official launch of the cross-border payment with Thailand is aligned with Canadia Bank’s digital transformation initiatives by unveiling more digital solutions and best-in-class products and services to provide excellent customer experiences in terms of making daily and cross-border transactions even more convenient. In addition, the cross-border digital payment solution with Thailand will encourage cash flow, economic activities, and strengthening of the local currencies between the two countries via a digital wallet that is secure and hassle-free for the customers.
In the pipeline, Canadia Bank intends to collaborate with other ASEAN countries to widely apply Khmer Riel for settlement and payment via QR code scan in order to facilitate payment, reduce cost, and enhance ASEAN financial inclusion.
